{"id":1001901,"date":"2018-03-05T13:23:04","date_gmt":"2018-03-05T13:23:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibewcanada.ca\/?p=1001901"},"modified":"2018-03-05T14:43:16","modified_gmt":"2018-03-05T14:43:16","slug":"apply-today-actims-women-in-trades-awards-bursaries-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibewcanada.ca\/fr\/news\/apply-today-actims-women-in-trades-awards-bursaries-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Apply Today: ACTIMS Women In Trades Awards\/Bursaries Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Women In Trades Awards\/Bursaries Program was created to recognize women who are members of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.buildingtrades.ca\/what-we-do\/journeyman\">Canadian Building Trades<\/a>, and to bring awareness of employment opportunities for women in the skilled trades.<\/p>\n<p>This annual awards\/bursaries program provides 3 recipients each with $1,500, for a total of $4,500 in awards:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1 award of $1,500 to any woman Journeyman who is part of the Building Trades Union<\/li>\n<li>2 bursaries of $1,500 each, to be given to 2 apprentice women who are members of the BT Unions.<br \/>\nAny 1<sup>st<\/sup>\/2<sup>nd<\/sup>\/3<sup>rd<\/sup>\/4<sup>th<\/sup>\/5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year apprentice<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Who is Eligible?<\/h2>\n<p>Canadian women in the trades (member of the Building Trades Unions) who demonstrate integrity, excellence, and leadership within the Maintenance\/Construction trades industry.<\/p>\n<p>Candidates who qualify will possess all of the below points:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Membership with a Union under the Building Trades<\/li>\n<li>Integrity and Leadership within the industry<\/li>\n<li>Excellence in their trade<\/li>\n<li>Practice workplace safety<\/li>\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup>\/2<sup>nd<\/sup>\/3<sup>rd<\/sup>\/4<sup>th<\/sup>\/5<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0year Apprentice Or,<\/li>\n<li>Journeyman status<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Maximum of 50 applications to be received per year<\/p>\n<p>If applying for the Apprentice Bursary, the applicant must\u00a0<u><strong>not<\/strong><\/u>\u00a0have received the \u201cACTIMS Women In Trades Award\u201d in the past to be eligible<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>Requirements:<\/h2>\n<p>Applicants must complete the application form in its entirety with attachments and mail or email to the ACTIMS office between the dates of\u00a0<strong>February 1<sup>st<\/sup>\u00a0through till April 30<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Write Up<\/strong>: The applicant must write a page or more describing why they feel that they possess or demonstrate the below points:<br \/>\n\u2022 Integrity within the industry<br \/>\n\u2022 Leadership in the workforce<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellence in their trade<br \/>\n\u2022 Practice workplace safety<\/p>\n<p>The write up must be signed off by their employer stating that the information provided by the applicant is true to the best of their knowledge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Letter of Recommendation<\/strong>: The applicant must provide a signed off letter of recommendation from their current, or most recent, employer; or their local union<\/p>\n<p><strong>Copy<\/strong>\u00a0of JM tickets or Apprentice Book (Apprenticeship papers)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2>How To Apply:<\/h2>\n<p>To be eligible, applications and supporting documents must be received\u00a0<strong>no later than April 30<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Completed application package must contain:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fully completed<\/strong>\u00a0application form<\/li>\n<li><strong>Write up<\/strong>\u00a0(signed off by the applicants employer) describing why they feel that they possess or demonstrate the below points:<br \/>\n\u2022 Integrity within the industry<br \/>\n\u2022 Leadership in the workforce<br \/>\n\u2022 Excellence in their trade<br \/>\n\u2022 Practice workplace safety<\/li>\n<li><strong>Letter<\/strong>\u00a0of recommendation from current, or most recent, employer; or local union (signed)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Copy<\/strong>\u00a0of JM tickets or Apprentice Book (Apprenticeship papers)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Winning applicants will be contacted by the ACTIMS office between June 25<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; July 5<sup>th<\/sup><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/actims.ca\/page\/awards\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click here for more information<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Women In Trades Awards\/Bursaries Program was created to recognize women who are members of the\u00a0Canadian Building Trades, and to bring awareness of employment opportunities for women in the skilled trades.
