Every May, for the past 28 years, trade unionists and friends of the labour movement gather to hit the links in support of finding a cure for multiple sclerosis. The annual IBEW MS Golf Tournament was started in 1989 by International Representative Tom McGreevy and has been growing each year since.
IR McGreevy took the initiative when Brother, and fellow International Representative Jim Wolfgang contracted MS. While the disease was not unheard of, once it affected a fellow brother, IR McGreevy wanted to do something more. With the support of International Vice President of the time, Ken Woods, the tournament started off with 35 golfers but has grown to over 120 golfers participating each May.
Proceeds are donated to various Chapters of the MS Society each year.
